Rankin DayCare Centre
"Learning Through Experience"
Our Children: Our Future History of the Rankin Daycare Centre As early as 1972, Pre-School Programs were being conducted on the Rankin Reserve at the Old Community Hall where the Rankin Arena is presently situated. The need for a Daycare Centre was soon realized through a Community Survey in 1973. October 26, 1976 was the Official Opening of the Daycare. The Rankin Daycare Centre accommodates 56 children, ages 18 months - 5 years of age, fulltime and part-time from 7:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday twelve months of the year. Two nutritious snacks and a hot lunch are provided which further enhances normal growth and development. The Rankin Daycare Centre is administered by the Batchewana First Nation Chief & Council Members. Language and Culture is incorporated into the daily curriculum to develop and provide Cultural appropriate services for children and families and to develop a sense of pride in who we are. The children may actively and freely partake in Educational activities that are by our qualified Early Childhood Educators. Extra curricular activities such as: swimming, skating and gymnastics are provided for further stimulation and learning.
Community members play a large part in the children's development by sharing their knowledge as skills at the Centre and to enhance Community Involvement and Networking. Daycare Full-Time Employees
