Press Release Batchewana First Nation “Honoring Our Culture Pow Wow 2009” September 4, 2009 Batchewana First Nation’s Chief and Council would like to invite all to attend this years pow wow “Honoring Our Culture 2009” taking place this weekend! Beginning Saturday September 5, 2009 the pow wow will showcase Anishinabek culture through dancing, drumming, and singing. Taking place at the Rankin reserve powwow grounds, Gran Street- Sault Ste. Marie, ON, the weekend will be fun for the whole family and provide the chance for everyone to enjoy authentic foods, and browse hand made crafts. Grand entry will take place at 1pm and 7pm on Saturday September 5, 2009 and 12:00pm noon on Sunday September 6th, 2009 Confirmed guests include: Host Drum: White Frost Sobriety Drum – Batchewana First Nation Co –Host: Northshore Ogitchidaa Singers Head Male Dancer: Joshua Memegos Head Female Dancer: Teresa Manitowabi – McGregor Hometown Veteran Ronald Sayers Head Veteran: Robert Big Track Arena Director: Allen Syrette There is no entry fee to attend however, everyone is encouraged to support the local food bank and bring a canned good. This is a healthy lifestyle activity and drugs/alcohol are not permitted.
